The centre philosophy is to promote a happy, stimulating environment. We weave learning throughout the child’s school day, at circle time, at free play, in creative activity and at snack time and lunch time. We will encourage children to verbalize their feelings such as anger, fears, frustrations as well as their happy and excited feelings. Monday through Friday to 30 months to kindergarten play, gross motor skills and other activities to encourage the learning process and meet the developmental needs of the whole child. Computers are available for children (children’s program, there is no internet connection). During the summer children grow their own vegetables in the garden, they learn to pull out the weeds, observe how the age. At 9:00 am our structured preschool program begins. The children have circle time, art music, free garden grows? When the vegetables ready, children pick their own vegetables, they wash them and eat them. This teaches children healthy eating habits. During the summer we spend most of the day outside ie have circle, snacks and lunches outside. There are picnic benches, inside toys are set up outside on the tables.
We work on weekly themes which are planned in advance (year). The program includes:
Stories, Music, Science, Crafts, Numbers.
The daycare environment is so fun and enjoyable, there are times when children do not want to go home.
GUIDANCE AND DISCIPLINE
How do we do this?
Music, rhymes, stories are used, we read discuss content. As children are talking we listen actively and respond positively.
Discipline – A definition; the word discipline is derived from the word the word disciple, it describes the teaching/learning process by which children develop socially acceptable and appropriate behaviour as they grow to maturity.
The purpose of guidance and discipline in the centre is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment in which each child can feel secure. Each child will be encouraged and supported to develop positive relationships with peer and staff. Staff will strive to be appropriate behavioral models showing respect for children, parents, co-workers, and their environment.
